Introduction to Fencing - This six weeks class provides lecture and practical application emphasizing good sportsmanship and the classical fencing techniques taught by generations of fencing masters throughout the world. It also covers the history of fencing leading up to its place in modern times. The lessons will enable the student to develop an understanding of the role for each part of the body as it relates to Posture, Balance, Footwork, Bladework and Drills.
Beginning Fencing - Lessons in this level focus on application of classical fencing modes and the development of drilling capability to ensure the student properly learns to develop the correct fencing moves required to perform during a fencing phrase. An introduction to competition theory and techniques is provided as a bridge to the intermediate level. These lessons are conducted at lower than realistic fencing speeds to ensure proper learning.
Intermediate Fencing - Lessons in this level emphasize the conversion of drilling techniques and classical posture to real application during a bout. The instructor always reinforces proper foot placement, bladework techniques and finger placement for holding each grip type.
Advanced Fencing - This level of class enforces classical posture at both the competitive and practice level. Prior to acceptance into this class, students are required to master full body and mental control and a mastery of the rules fencing etiquette and bouting for their weapon of choice.
